ORDER : 1. The only question in the Writ Petition is whether the 17 posts of Additional District (Sessions Judges) in Haryana are going to be surrendered by the High Court of Punjab & Haryana. The State Government has stated in its affidavit that it has not received intimation from the High Court that the High Court proposes to surrender these posts and the High Court has not yet filed an affidavit in reply. Dr. Chitale also agrees that these 17 posts will not be surrendered. We have no doubt that in view of the large volume of work accumulating in the Courts, these posts need not be surrendered. We express no opinion regarding the inter se seniority between the direct recruits and the promotees. In view of this position, the Writ Petitions do not survive.
