JUDGMENT - DAUD S.M., J.:—These are petitions questioning detentions pursuant to orders made under section 3(1) of the Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Preventive Smuggling Activities Act, 1974. 2. The impugned orders were made at Delhi and served at Calcutta. A prison at the latter place is the abode of the detenus for the period they are to be detained. This Court's jurisdiction has been invoked because of the detenus being residents of and doing business at Ulhasnagar, Dist. Thane, State of Maharashtra. These facts do not constitute any part of the cause of action. This finding rests on the reasons set out at greater length in our Judgment delivered today in Criminal Writ Petition No. 243 of 1987. 3. The petitions are, therefore, rejected on the ground of lack of jurisdiction. Rule in both the cases discharged. Petitions dismissed.
