ORDER : M.N. Venkatachaliah, CJI and B.P. Jeevan Reddy, J. 1. Before further proceedings are taken, we accept the submission of Shri K.N. Bhat, learned Senior Counsel appearing on behalf of Respondents 4 to 8 and direct the Rajasthan Pollution Control Board to have samples of the alleged polluted material (alleged to be iron sludge) now entombed in the pits, chemically analysed by taking appropriate samples in accordance with Section 11 of the Environment (Protection) Act. A report in this behalf may be made to this Court within four weeks from today. 2. Some of the polluted wells may be tested for the quality of the water after obtaining samples to ascertain whether there is any mitigation of pollution after the recent rains. The Rajasthan Pollution Control Board will also undertake this exercise and give a report. The report will also indicate whether there is any chemical co-relation between the iron sludge said to have been discharged by the factories of Respondents 4 to 8 as an industrial waste and chemical impurities found in the water. This co-relation may be examined and report will include an indication of this feature. The same exercise may also be undertaken by the environment experts of the Ministry of Environment in this behalf within four weeks. The team will also give a status report about the toxic waste in the area. 3. List the matter on 20-9-1993. Court Masters.
