Manprit Singh v. Union Territory of Chandigarh

1994-12-07

K.JAYACHANDRA REDDY, M.M.PUNCHHI

body1994
JUDGMENT : We have gone through the appeal paperbooks and other connected material on the record. The appellant was convicted for offence punishable under Section 25 of the Arms Act by the Special Court and sentenced to the period already undergone. Though the appellant had a statutory right to move this court in appeal, nothing substantial has come to our notice on the basis of which as may be persuaded to alter the conviction. The appellant, as said before, has undergone the sentence. The exercise on merit should now be purely academic. Thus, in the totality of circumstances, we see no reason to upset the order of the Special Judge. The appeal accordingly fails and is hereby dismissed. Appeal dismissed.
