JUDGMENT : In view of the dissonant views expressed by different benches on the scope and effect of reopening of an assessment under Section 147 of the I.T. Act, we think it appropriate that the matter is placed before a Three-Judge Bench for an authoritative pronouncement on the above issue. The matter may be placed before the Hon'ble Chief Justice for appropriate directions regarding posting before a Three-Judge Bench.
