JUDGMENT : 1. We are informed that some States have not yet filed the affidavits which are required to be filed by them as per our earlier directions. They must do so definitely within 3 weeks hereafter, failing which the appropriate direction required to be made for ensuring compliance of this Court's direction would be given on the next date. The learned Solicitor General wants some time to ascertain the further steps taken by the Central Government and the State Governments in this behalf. 2. The Registry must take steps to furnish affidavits and any other documents filed in the case to the learned Solicitor General and Amicus Curiae and Mr. Gopal Jain, adv., who is assisting the amicus curiae within three days of the same being filed. 3. List on 15.9.1997.
