( 1 ). We have examined the affidavit filed on behalf of State of meghalaya with regard to compliance with the various directions issued in D. K. Basus case. Learned counsel appearing for the State submits that with regard to directions k, o, p, q, r and s, an additional affidavit shall be filed giving various details. Let the needful be done within four weeks. ( 2 ). We have also perused the affidavits filed by the U. Ts of lakshadweep, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. Mr. Mahajan, learned senior counsel appearing for the U. Ts. submits that insofar as direction h is concerned, steps were being taken to appoint panel of Doctors and that within four weeks he shall inform the court about the appointment of the panel. He also submits that he would clarify the stand of the State government with regard to compliance with direction j, within the same period. We grant the prayer. ( 3 ). A perusal of the affidavit of U. T. of andaman and Nicobar Island shows that various directions have been complied with. ( 4 ). The affidavit filed on behalf of the State of Nagaland does not clearly indicate whether panel of Doctors have been appointed or not nor does it state whether the directions issued in D. K. Basus case have been broadcast or exhibited by the electronic media? Mr. Vasudev submits that he shall file an additional affidavit within four weeks clarifying this position. ( 5 ). On the next date, the cases relating to the States of Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, mizoram, Tripura, Pondicherry, Rajasthan, himachal Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh shall be taken up for consideration to find out the extent to which the directions in D. K. Basus case have been complied with or/are being complied with. ( 6 ). The matter is adjourned. The next date shall be fixed by the Registry in consultation with the learned Amicus.
