JUDGMENT : 1. Applications for intervention/impleadment are dismissed. 2. After perusing the affidavit of the Union of India, we deem it proper to issue notice in the Contempt Petition No. 461/2002 returnable on 30th September, 2002. Dasti service, in addition is permitted. Personal presence of the alleged contemnors is dispensed with for the present. 3. In the meantime, the Union of India shall file a further affidavit indicating the extent of inflow into the Mettur Dam, on or before 27th September, 2002, in order to ascertain whether the direction of the Cauvery River Authority and this Court has been complied with or not. 4. List on 30th September, 2002.
