ORDER : IA 118 1. At the request of the learned Attorney General, the matter is adjourned for 1st December, 2003. IA 126 2. Learned counsel appearing for the High Court of Maharashtra prays for and is granted four weeks time to file response. 3. List the matter on 1st December, 2003. The applicants are permitted to intervene in Writ Petition(C) No. 258/2003. IA 109 6. List this I.A. on 1st December, 2003. IA. 123 7. IA 123 is dismissed as withdrawn. IA 133: 8. By an order dated 23rd July, 1999 this Court passed the following order : "An application from the First National Judicial Pay Commission has been received in which it is stated that there is an apprehension that the services of the staff of the Commission may not be extended. It is also submitted that the work is likely to be completed for Judicial Officers by September, 1999 and thereafter the work with regard to the Courts' staff of all the States/Union Territories will be taken up. In view of the earlier orders passed by this Court, we hereby direct the Central Government to continue the Commission with the existing staff till a report is made to this Court regarding the service conditions of the courts' staff of all the State/Union Territories and the same is considered by this Court. If for any valid reason, a member of the staff leaves the Commission, a substitute shall be provided by the Central Government. The application received from the Commission stands disposed of." 9. The Commission has already sent the report which is under consideration regarding the service conditions of courts' staff of the State/Union Territories. We see that no useful purpose should be served by keeping the Commission to continue. We, therefore, in modification of the order dated 23rd July, 1999 direct that the commission shall wind up w.e.f. 1st December, 2003. Let this order of winding up be communicated to the Commission forthwith. IA is disposed of. IA ..../203 (Filed by the State of Tamil Nadu) 10.
