Judgment 1. Heard counsel for the parties. 2. This writ application pertains to grant of promotion to the petitioners on the post of Plant Protection Inspector, as per the resolution of the Agriculture Department dated 18.2.1992. 3. It is submitted by learned counsel for the petitioners that the petitioners are eligible for promotion to the posts of Plant Protection Inspector in the scale of Rs. 1600-2780 and despite the resolution of the Agriculture Department dated 18.2.1992 their cases have not been considered for promotion. 4. A counter affidavit has been filed on behalf of the respondents, wherein it is stated that proposal for promotion from the post of Plant Protection Supervisor to that of Plant Protection Inspector has been received from the Joint Director of Agriculture (Plant Protection), Government of Bihar, Patna and the matter is under scrutiny to give promotion to them in light of resolution no. 328 dated 18.2.1992, issued by the Agriculture Department, Government of Bihar, Patna. 5. The counter affidavit was sworn in the year 1999, but till date the matter is still hanging in fire and no decision has been taken so far the petitioner is concerned, to promote them on the posts of Plant Protection Inspector. 6. The claims of the petitioners are not denied in the counter affidavit and, in that view of the matter, the State authorities should consider their cases expeditiously. 7. Accordingly, this Court directs the respondents to consider the cases of the petitioners for promotion to the posts of Plant Protection Inspector in light of the resolution of the Agriculture Department, as referred to above, and to take a decision in the matter within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt/production of a copy of this order. 8. With the direction/observation aforesaid, this writ application is, accordingly, disposed of.
