ORDER : 1. We have examined the Report filed along with the affidavit dated 26th October, 2005. In respect of Western Peripheral Expressway project, it is stated that the notification for acquisition of 1768 acres of land (out of 3450 acres acquired) under Sections 4 and 6 of the Land Acquisition Act has been notified. This Court shall be informed on the next date of hearing, namely, 18th November, 2005, as to what is the status in regard to the remaining land required to be acquired. 2. In respect of the Eastern Peripheral Expressway project, the Report states that alignments have been finalised. Regarding acquisition, it is stated that the same will be completed within one year starting from 21st October, 2005, namely, the date when the alignment was finalised. The Report further states that nodal officers by the Governments of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh for various districts would be appointed to help the consultants of Eastern Peripheral Expressway to prepare plans and proposals for acquisition of land within two weeks. The said period has since expired. We hope that the nodal officers must have been appointed. The learned counsel for these States are unable to positively make a statement on this issue. If the nodal officers are not appointed, they shall be appointed and the matter reported to this Court on 18th November, 2005. The expeditious completion of acquisition shall also be considered so that reasonable time less than one year, as proposed, is taken and the matter reported on the next date of hearing. 3.
