Judgment Hemant Gupta, J. 1. In the present petition, the petitioner has claimed another chance to appear in B.Tech. (Electronics & Communication) 3rd Semester Analysis and Synthesis of Networks. 2. The petitioner was admitted to B.Tech. (Electronics and Communication) course conducted by Shaheed Udham Singh College of Engineering and Technology in the year 1997 for the academic sessions 1997-2001. The said institute is affiliated to the Punjab Technical University. As per Regulation 16(b), a candidate is given six years from the date of admission to pass all the courses and to fulfill the requirements for completion of degree of B.Tech. The petitioner has claimed that other Universities in the State of Punjab are providing large duration for passing of the examinations than the one fixed by the Punjab Technical University. It is pointed out that due to unavoidable circumstances, the petitioner could not fair well in 3rd Semester Analysis and Synthesis of Networks. The petitioner has cleared all the subjects of B.Tech. (Electronics and Communication), except the aforesaid subject. 3. During the pendency of the writ petition, vide Notification dated 22.2.2006, the maximum duration for clearing all the subjects has been amended. As per the amended Regulations, the maximum duration for clearing all the subjects of the particular course is twice the duration of the respective regular course. 4. The petitioner was pemtitted to appear in the supplementary examination vide order dated 13.5.2005, therefore, I am of the considered opinion that declining the declining the benefit of the amended Regulations to the petitioner would cause great injustice to the petitioner.The petitioner had akready taken out the examination. After the would have been entitled to the benefit of amended denied to the petitioner only because he had takent out the examination earlier. 5. In View of the above, the present writ petition is disposed of With the durection to respondent No. 1 to declare the result of the petitioner of 3rd semester. Analysis and Synthesis of Networks i.e examination in which the petitioner has appeared under the Orders of this Court, which shall be treated as one of the additional chance as per the Notification dated 22.2.2006.
