Judgment :- (Writ Petitions filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a writ of mandamus as stated therein.) P. Sathasivam, J. The petitioner by name C. Karunamanoharan has filed this Public Interest Litigation, seeking direction to the respondents to ensure that the schools of the respondents or its aided and the private schools regulated by the respondents do not compel the parents to fill in the columns relating to religion, community or caste of the applicant in the application form to the Educational Institution. 2. The learned Government Advocate has brought to our notice that even as early as in 1973, the Government have issued appropriate direction to the Directorate of School Education to the effect that there is no compulsion to mention the religion, community or caste. The said Government Order reads as under. In the light of the decision of the Government, we are of the view that no further direction is required from this Court, hence, this writ petition is closed. No costs.
