JUDGMENT Jasbir Singh, J. (Oral) - This appeal has been filed against award dated 8.9.2006, passed by the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, Ambala (in short, the Tribunal), granting an amount of Rs. 1,92,000/- to the respondent claimant, on account of injuries suffered by him, in a motor accident, on 29.2.2004. 2. Contention of counsel for the appellant, that the driver of the vehicle was not having a valid licence, at the time of accident, is liable to be rejected. In that regard, no evidence was led by the appellant before the Tribunal. Further contention that the amount awarded is on the higher side is also not tenable. It has come on record that the claimant Lakhwinder Singh received grievous injuries in the accident, in question. He remained admitted in PGI, Chandigarh for about 13 days. Surgical operation was conducted upon him, to treat fracture of his right leg and a rod was inserted, due to which, his leg has shortened by two inches. He has developed a permanent limp in walking, for whole of his life. Disability has been assessed at 20%. In view of this, we feel that the amount awarded, is just and reasonable. No case is made out for interference. Dismissed.
