Judgment Barin Ghosh and J.N.Singh JJ. 1. In the audit reports prepared by the internal audit wing of the Finance Department it has been pointed out that the people working with the Government or associated with the Government have allegedly defalcated public money. In the present public interest writ petition petitioner has pointed out that despite such report having been prepared no step is being taken either to recover such defalcated amount or to take appropriate action against the persons who are associated with such defalcation or to block the holes so that in future such defalcation do not take place. 2. The writ petition has stirred the Government and the Government has come up with an affidavit and has thereby disclosed that appropriate steps have been taken against the persons who are associated with such defalcation and appropriate measures are also being taken so that in future such defalcation do not take place. 3. Having regard t.o the above state of affairs, we are of the view that the present litigation has arisen enough interest in the Government to ensure that the matters dealt with in the audit reports prepared by the internal audit wing of the Finance Department of the Government are not left out lightly but are taken up with vigorous zeal so that public money is not wasted. In those circumstances, with the request to thi Government to keep constant vigil over the matter, we conclude tne present proceeding and give appropriate regard to the writ petitioner for serving the society in the manner it has done.
