ORDER 1. It is pointed out that there are about 31 derecognised zoos in various States. The continuance of the zoos are against the provisions of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972. 2. We are told that 15 authorities have applied for recognition and the matter is pending before the Central Zoo Authority. As regards the other 16 derecognised zoos, no such application has been filed. 3. The Central Zoo Authority will write to the respective States to do the needful otherwise legal steps will have to be taken against them. The Central Zoo Authority will file a report regarding this within four weeks. 4. List after four weeks.
