Judgment The present petition has been filed praying that this Court may be pleased to call for the records relating to the order of the respondent, dated 24. 1994, issued in Ref. No.33264/N1/91 quash the same and direct the respondent to promote the petitioner as Assistant Engineer, with all consequential benefits. 2. At this stage of the hearing of the writ petition, the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner had placed before this Court a `status report issued by the Chief Engineer (General), Highways, dated 23.06.2008, which is as follows: "In this connection, it is submitted that Thiru.E.Rajamohan the applicant was appointed as Assistant Engineer in Chief Engineer (Highways) Chennai Proc.No.33264/N4/91, dated 22. 1995 and joined duty, on 01.03.1995. Further, he was promoted as Assistant Divisional Engineer in Chief Engineer (Highways), Chennai Proc.No.13870/Admn1(2)/06, dated 26.06.2006 and joined duty on 30.06.2006. Now, he is working as Assistant Divisional Engineer at Nabard and Rural Roads, Tirunelveli." 3. Even though the petitioner has been promoted as prayed for in the writ petition, it is submitted by the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner that with regard to the consequential benefits, the petitioner may be permitted to submit a representation. 4. In view of the submissions made by the learned counsels appearing for the parties concerned, the petitioner is permitted to make a representation to the respondent with regard to the consequential benefits, which may be due to the petitioner, within a period of four weeks from today, and on such representation being submitted, the respondent is directed to pass appropriate orders thereon, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of twelve weeks thereafter. With the above directions, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
