Reliance has been placed upon a Five Judge Bench judgment of this Court in Kulwinder Singh v. State of Punjab, 2007(3) Law Herald (P&H) 2225. 2. An affidavit of complainant Surinder Kaur, widow of Balbir Singh and Gian Singh son of Mela Singh, witness to the occurrence is also placed on record. 3. Learned counsel appearing for respondent No.2, complainant does not dispute the fact that the matter has been compromised between the parties. 4. In view of the law laid down in Kulwinder Singh’s case (supra), no useful purpose would be served in continuing with the prosecution in the present case once the complainant herself does not wish to proceed with the FIR. Accordingly, FIR No.583 dated 19.7.2000 and proceeding consequent thereto are quashed. 5. The petition is disposed of. —————————
