JUDGMENT Rajesh Bindal, J.- The prayer made in this petition filed under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure ( for short “the Code”) is for quashing FIR No. 166 dated June 26, 2005 registered under Sections 406, 420, 120-B IPC at Police Station Division No.6, Jalandhar and all subsequent proceedings arising therefrom. 2. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the dispute between the parties has been settled amicably by way of compromise which has been reduced in writing. Copy whereof is placed on record as Annexure P-2. The copies of statements of Satnam Kaur alias Parminder Kaur and Surinder Singh Grewal made before the learned District Judge, Jalandhar in the proceeding under Section 11 of Hindu Marriage Act are also placed on record as Annexures P-3 and P-4 respectively. Reliance has been placed upon a five Judge Bench judgment of this Court in Kulwinder Singh v. State of Punjab 2007 (3) Law Herald (P&H) 2225. 3. The facts stated by the petitioners are not disputed by counsel for respondent. The factum of the matter having been compromised between the parties is not disputed. 4. Once the matter has been compromised between the parties, no useful purpose will be served in proceeding with the prosecution. Accordingly, considering the law laid down by this Court in Kulwinder Singh’s case (supra) FIR No. 166 dated June 26, 2005 registered under Sections 406, 420, 120-B IPC at Police Station Division No.6, Jalandhar and all subsequent proceedings arising therefrom are quashed. 5. The petition is disposed of accordingly. ——————————
