Judgment :- This writ petition has been filed praying for a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to give domestic electricity service connection and power supply to the petitioners dwelling unit bearing Door No.11/2, New No.27, Govindarajapuram 2nd Street, Adyar, Chennai-20, within the time stipulated by this Court. 2. The petitioner has built a house bearing Door No.11/2, New No.27, Govindarajapuram 2nd Street, Adyar, Chennai. After completing the construction, the petitioner had applied to the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, for domestic electricity service connection to the said house. On 1.9.2009, he had remitted the application fee of Rs.50/-, with the second respondent. Further, on 7.9.2009, he had remitted a sum of Rs.2,490/-, as the necessary charges. In spite of several requests, the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board had not given the electricity service connection, as requested by the petitioner. In such circumstances, the petitioner has filed the present writ petition before this Court, under Article 226 of the Constitution of India. 3. The learned counsel appearing on behalf of the respondents had submitted that the petitioners brother, one Krishnamurthy, has raised certain objections in granting electricity service connection to the petitioner. He has also submitted that, on the petitioner fulfilling all the necessary formalities and on his submission of the relevant records, his request for electricity service connection would be considered, subject to the objections that may be raised by the other interested persons. 4. In view of the submissions made on behalf of the parties concerned, the second respondent is directed to consider the request of the petitioner for providing electricity service connection to the house bearing Door No.11/2, New No.27, Govindarajapuram 2nd Street, Adyar, Chennai, and to grant the electricity service connection, subject to the petitioner fulfilling the necessary requirements, as per law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The writ petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
