ORDER : 1. In pursuance of our order dated 30.11.2009, the Advocates-on-Record Association has submitted the following suggestions for consideration and issue of practice directions: “(1) In all matters which are being listed for hearing before the Court, the presence of an Advocate-on-Record may be made compulsory, along with the arguing counsel. In exceptional cases where the Advocate-on-Record is busy in other courts, appearance may be dispensed with, by the order of the Court. (2) No Senior Advocate may be allowed to appear in any matter, without the Advocate-on-Record, who has filed the matter. (3) In case the Advocate-on-Record is not in the position to assist the Court for some reasons, he may submit a letter to this effect to the Court, at least two days in advance. (4) Before prayer, in every matter, a statement may be made by the Advocate-on-Record concerned to the effect, that he has gone through the contents of the petitions and has verified the same as correct, based on the averments and material disclosed by the litigant. (5) Appearance slips along with the name of the assisting advocate may be submitted by the Advocates-on-Record, duly stamped and signed by them” 2. Mr. Sushil Kumar Jain, the ex-President of the Advocates-on-Record Association has also submitted a note giving certain suggestions. We request Mr. D.K. Garg to go through it and give comments of the Association on these suggestions. 3. As the office-bearers of the Supreme Court Bar Association are not available, we request the members of the Ad Hoc Committee i.e. Mr. K.K. Venugopal, Mr. P.P. Rao and Mr. P.H. Parekh, to give their views on the suggestions made by the Advocates-on-Record Association and by Mr. Sushil Kumar Jain. For this purpose, Mr. Garg and Mr. Jain are requested to furnish them copies of their suggestions. 4. List the matter on 15.3.2010. The Registry may notify the aforesaid members of the Ad Hoc Committee of SCBA the date of hearing so that they can be present and make their suggestions.
