ORDER Heard Mr. Satya Ranjan Sinha, learned counsel for the petitioner and Shri Alok Ranjan, learned counsel appearing on behalf of all the respondents/Bihar State Electricity Board. 2. The petitioner, who retired on 30.9.2007 as Unskilled Khalasi from Ramchandrapur Sub Division, Biharsharif, Nalanda, Bihar State Electricity Board, has made a limited prayer for directing the respondents to pay interest on G.P.F. amount from the date of sanction till the date of payment. The petitioner had earlier approached this Court vide C.W.J.C. No.4941 of 2008 for a direction to the respondents to make payment of sanctioned amount of G.P.F. The G.P.F. amount to the tune of Rs.3,76,013/- was sanctioned on 24.6.2008. However, payment was not made to the petitioner. The said writ petition was disposed of with a direction to the respondents to take steps for payment of G.P.F. amount within a period of four months from the date of communication/production of a copy of this order. After the order was passed, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the Electricity Board issued a cheque for Rs.3,76,013/- only dated 27.4.2009 in respect of sanctioned amount of G.P.F. It was claimed by the petitioner that the Electricity Board was required to make payment of interest on G.P.F. amount from the date of sanction till the date of payment/issuance of cheque. 3. The court is of the opinion that once the G.P.F. amount was sanctioned on 24.6.2008 and thereafter, without any fault of the petitioner, payment was delayed up to the month of April,2009, the petitioner was entitled to get interest on the amount of G.P.F. from the date of sanction till the date of payment. 4. Accordingly, the respondent no.2/Secretary, Bihar State Electricity Board is directed to make payment of interest at the rate of 6% per annum from the date of sanction i.e. 24.6.2008 to 27.4.2009 on the G.P.F. amount i.e. Rs.3,76,013/-. The amount of interest must be paid to the petitioner within a period of four months from the date of receipt/production of a copy of this order. 5. The writ petition stands allowed.
