Judgment :- COMMON ORDER 1. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioners and the learned counsel appearing for the respondents. 2. It has been stated that the petitioners in the above writ petitions had been appointed as Nominal Muster Roll Workers in the Highways Department of the Government of Tamilnadu. It has been further stated that, even though, they had been working, continuously, for a number of years, they had not been regularised in service. In fact, their request for their regularisation in service, as per the government orders, in G.O.Ms.No.67, Highways (HR) Department, dated 25.3.1998 and G.O.Ms.No.223, Highways (HK3) Department, dated 2.11.2006, had been rejected in spite of the earlier orders passed by this Court to consider their requests. 3. The learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioners had submitted that the State Government had taken a policy decision to regularise the Nominal Muster Roll workers, who had been employed, continuously, for three years, to be considered for regularisation in service. 4. At this stage of the hearing of the writ petitions, the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioners had submitted that it would suffice if the Chief Engineer, Highways and Rural Works Department, Chennai, the second respondent in the above writ petitions, is directed to place the names of the petitioners, along with the necessary particulars, before the State Government, for obtaining necessary orders, with regard to the regularisation of their service and if the first respondent in the above writ petitions is directed to consider the same and pass appropriate orders thereon, as expeditiously as possible. 5. The learned counsel appearing on behalf of the respondents has no objection for this Court passing such an order. 6. In such circumstances, the Chief Engineer, Highways and Rural Works Department, Chennai, the second respondent in the above writ petitions, is directed to forward the names of the petitioners to the Government of Tamilnadu, the first respondent in the writ petitions, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, if they had already completed three years of continuous service, as Nominal Muster Roll workers, in the Highways Department. Thereafter, it is for the first respondent to consider the same and pass appropriate orders thereon, as expeditiously as possible. The Writ petitions are ordered accordingly. No costs.
