JUDGMENT HON'BLE DILIP GUPTA, J. The petition which has been filed in the public interest has made a grievance in respect of the activities of the thirteenth respondent who, it is alleged, is not a qualified medical doctor and is carrying on unlawful activities in violation of the provisions of Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition on Sex-Selection) Act, 1994. 2. Having due regard to the seriousness of the allegations which have been made in the petition, we are of the view that it would be necessary for the Chief Medical Officer, Gautam Budh Nagar to cause an inquiry to be made into the allegations with the assistance of the competent police authorities and, if it is found that there is prima facie any substance in the allegations, to cause steps to be taken in accordance with law on a priority basis. We clarify that in the absence of the thirteenth respondent before the Court, it would not be proper for this Court to express a finding on the merits of the allegations which we have left open to the Chief Medical Officer to inquire into and investigate expeditiously with the assistance of the police authorities. 3. The writ petition is, accordingly, disposed of.
