ORDER : At the request of the Court, Shri Mukul Rohatgi, learned Attorney General, has appeared before us. He is informed of the difficulties faced by Road Safety Committee headed by Mr. Justice K.S. Radhakrishnan, former judge of this Court in the due performance of the task assigned by this Court to the said Committee. Shri Rohatgi has assured the Court the he will look into the matter and such remedial measures as may be feasible and possible will be initiated. We hope and trust that the Government of India would provide all facilities and amenities, including infrastructural support so as to enable the Road Safety Committee to perform the duties assigned to it by this Court by its order dated 22th April, 2014. 2. The above aspect of the matter will be considered again after six weeks. 3. We have perused the report submitted by the Road Safety Committee headed by Mr. Justice K.S. Radhakrishnan, former judge of this Court in five volumes. The said report is in the nature of a preliminary report indicating the work done till date. Considering the magnitude of the task assigned, the report submitted and such report which will be submitted from time to time, we are of the view that Shri Gaurav Agarwal, a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association should be appointed as the amicus curiae. We order accordingly and direct a copy of the report(s) submitted so far be served on Shri Gaurav Agarwal and Ms. Pinky Anand, learned Additional Solicitor General. Both Shri Gaurav Agarwal, learned Amicus Curiae and Ms. Pinky Anand, learned Additional Solicitor General, on examination of the report(s) submitted, will submit their response and written submissions within six weeks from today. 4. In the meantime, such of the States, which have not responded, be issued reminder by the Road Safety Committee to send their response to the queries made by the said Committee. 5. List the matter after six weeks.
