body2014
JUDGMENT Hon'ble Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, J. The grievance of the petitioner is that the third respondent, namely, the Regional Transport Officer, Lucknow has taken no steps on the application which has been submitted as far back as on 19 October 2013 for the registration of a motor vehicle under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Rules, 1998 and the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. 2. Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the respondents states, on instructions, that the verification of the vehicle has not been completed, as a result of which registration has been held up. 3. We find no reason or justification for keeping the registration application pending for six months. If there would be any requisitions that are required to be complied with, he should have been duly intimated. In view of the submission made on behalf of the respondents, we direct the petitioner to remain present before the third respondent on 12 May 2014 for the purposes of the required verification of the motor vehicle and completion of all other formalities as required in law. The third respondent shall thereafter pass necessary orders in accordance with law within a period of one week. 4. The petition is, accordingly, disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
