JUDGMENT Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, J. The petitioner, who has moved these proceedings in public interest, has relied upon several news reports in the print media of a fraud involving the operations of the Life Insurance Corporation, particularly at Lucknow. The petitioner has stated that though raids were conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation, it was apprehended that no action has since been taken. Hence, a direction has been sought to the Central Bureau of Investigation, which is impleaded as the third respondent, to submit a status report in regard to the investigation which has been conducted. 2. Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the third respondent states that the apprehension of the petitioner is baseless and that a charge-sheet has been filed on 21 August 2014 in RC 18/2012. Moreover, it has been stated that twelve persons are in judicial custody. Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the Life Insurance Corporation, the fourth and fifth respondents, has placed on the record his instructions, which indicate that a suit has been instituted before the Civil Judge, Lucknow (Suit No.1260 of 2013), which is pending and departmental proceedings were also initiated, which have resulted in punishment being imposed against the erring officers/officials. 3. Since the petition has been based only on news reports and at this stage, the statements, which have been made on behalf of the third, fourth and fifth respondents, would indicate that necessary action has been taken, it is not necessary for the Court to pursue these proceedings any further. No further direction has been sought. The petition is, accordingly, dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs.
