Judgment 1. The petitioners have been working as Accountants on consolidated pay. The petitioners were engaged by Tirunelveli City Municipal Corporation. The petitioners originally worked as Assistants to the Auditor, who was given the work of auditing the accounts of local body. Thereafter, they were engaged by the third respondent directly. 2. The third respondent appears to have passed resolutions dated 19.08.2010, 31.1.2011, 28.07.2011 and 22.06.2012, enhancing the salary of the petitioners. 3. While the petitioners were working as Accountants, the Commissioner, Tirunelveli City Municipal Corporation/3rd respondent herein, vide proceedings dated 22.12.2011 requested the Director of Municipal Administration, to ratify the appointments of the petitioners. The petitioners are even now continuing as Accountants on consolidated pay. 4. According to the petitioners, there are vacancies in the post of Accountant in the Local Body and they should be absorbed in the said post. 5. The petitioners are given two weeks time to make a fresh representation to the third respondent. In case any such representation is given, the same shall be considered and disposed of by the third respondent on merits and as per law. Such exercise shall be completed within a period of 8 weeks from the date of receipt of representation. 6. The writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs. Consequently, connected M.P.(md).No.1 of 2014, 2 of 2013 and 3 of 2013 are closed. 7. This Court has granted interim injunction restraining the respondents from making appointment to the post of Accountants on 15.05.2013 and thereafter, it was made absolute on 27.06.2013. The said order would be in force till the disposal of the matter by the third respondent.
