Judgment M. Jaichandren, J. 1. Heard the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner, as well as the learned Additional Advocate General appearing on behalf of the respondents. 2. The main contention of the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner is that the petitioner is an independent candidate, contesting in the election being held today i.e. 18.09.2014, relating to Ward No.8 of Sivakasi Panchayat Union. It has been stated that the Ruling Party members have threatened the petitioner, asking him to withdraw his nomination. Therefore, he had submitted his representations, to the Police and the other authorities concerned, for providing sufficient Police protection to the petitioner. However, no action has been taken by the authorities concerned, till date. In such circumstances, the petitioner has come forward with the present writ petition, before this Court, under Article 226 of the Constitution of India. 3. At this stage of hearing of the writ petition, Mr.K.Chellapandian, the learned Additional Advocate General, appearing on behalf of the respondents, had placed before this Court a communication issued by the third respondent namely, the Returning Officer/Block Development Officer, Sivakasi Panchayat Union, dated 16.09.2014 stating that arrangements have been made to videograph the polling, in 11 Booths of Ward No.8 of Sivakasi Panchayat Union, during the election. 4. In view of the said submission made by the learned Additional Advocate General appearing on behalf of the respondents, we find no cause or reason to pass further orders relating to the relief prayed for by the petitioner, in the present writ petition. Hence, this writ petition stands closed. No costs. Consequently, connected M.P.(MD).No.1 of 2014 is also closed.
