MADAN B.LOKUR, UDAY UMESH LALIT

body2015
ORDER : 1. We have been given to understand that compensation has not been paid to some of the next of the kin of the deceased inspite of the orders of Gauhati High Court or of the National Human Rights Commission. The justification for that seems to be the pendency of the case before us. 2. We make it clear that compensation should be paid to the next of the kin of the deceased regardless of the pendency of this case. 3. Learned senior counsel appearing for the State of Manipur says that in some cases, an order of compensation has been made by the Gauhati High Court as well as by the National Human Rights Commission. We clarify that the higher of the amount should be paid to the next of the kin of the deceased. Payment should be made expeditiously. 4. Heard the matters in part. 5. List the matters tomorrow, 09th December, 2015.
