ORDER : N.KIRUBAKARAN, J. The petitioner has sought for writ of mandamus directing the respondents to permit the petitioner to conduct cock fight in his native village during Pongal festival on 15.01.2016 to 18.01.2016. 2. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the villagers of Chinna Kuttiye Vatti Village, Eriyodi Post, Vedasandur Taluk, Dindigul District decided to celebrate Pongal festival. During pongal festival, they wanted to conduct competition/games, cock fight etc. 3. Therefore, on 02.12.2015, the villagers gave a representation to the Eriyodu Police Station, Dindigul District, namely, the second respondent herein seeking permission to conduct cock fight in their native place during Pongal festival. Similarly, another representation was given to the first respondent, the District Collector, Dindigul District on 16.12.2015. Since, the representations given on 02.12.2015 and 15.07.2015 did not evoke any response, the petitioners have come before this Court. 4. Heard Mr.S.Pugalendhi, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr. M.Manohar, learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents. 5. The Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in the case of Animal Welfare Board of India vs. N.Nagaraja and others reported in (2014) 4 MLJ 89 (SC), already prohibited conducting Jallikattu. Following the said judgement, this Court passed orders in the case of S.Kannan vs. The Commissioner of Police, Madurai City Madurai and three others reported in 2014 (3) CTC 676 prohibiting conduct of cock fight. 6. In view of that, the question of permitting cock fight does not arise and therefore, the prayer sought for by the petitioner cannot be granted. The writ petition is dismissed. No costs.
