JUDGMENT By an earlier order of this Court in Public Interest Litigation No 63827 of 2015 dated 23 November 2015, the State Government was directed to ensure that a decision is taken within three months upon the report which was submitted by the Collector and District Magistrate on a charge that the President of Nagar Panchayat, Charthawal, District Muzaffarnagar committed various irregularities. This direction was issued since the grievance was that despite the submission of the report on 18 April 2015, no action has been taken. 2. In view of the order of this Court, the Secretary to the State Government issued a direction on 16 March 2016 stating that following the allegations which have been found established in the report submitted by the Collector, a notice was issued to the fifth respondent calling for an explanation thereto. Certain departmental actions were also taken against the then Executive Officer. The order of the first respondent dated 16 March 2016 indicates that a notice to show cause has been issued so as to subserve the interests of natural justice. 3. This petition can, hence, be disposed of by directing the competent authority in the State Government to ensure that the proceedings are concluded expeditiously in accordance with law and a final decision is taken within a period of three months from the receipt of a certified copy of this order. The petition is accordingly disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
