JUDGMENT : AJAY KUMAR MITTAL, J. In this petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, petitioner has prayed for grant of 6 weeks parole under Section 3(1)(d) of the Punjab Good Conduct Prisoners Temporary Release Act, 1962 (in short 1962 Act') and under Section 3(1)(b) of the Haryana Good Conduct Prisoner (Temporary Release) Act, 1988 (in short 1988 Act'). 2. It has been averred in the petition that the petitioner is undergoing the life imprisonment sentence in case FIR No.245, dated 05.12.2012, under Sections 302, 307, 148, 149 IPC and 25/27/54/59 of the Arms Act, registered at Police Station Chehharta, District Amritsar. 3. Upon notice of motion having been issued, reply/status report by way of affidavit of J. Elanchezhian, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, District Amritsar (Rural) has been filed in Court today, wherein, inter alia, in para 3 of the said status report, it has been stated that on the basis of the records, the petitioner is involved in the many criminal cases, which reads thus:- “3. That the perusal of the record reveals that the following criminal cases have been registered against the petitioner Ranjit Singh @ Rana, while in judicial custody/undergoing sentence in the aforesaid case. JAIL OFFENCES COMMITTED BY THE PETITIONER RANJIT SINGH RANA: (I) Case FIR No.317/2012 Dated 19.12.12 u/s 420 IPC, 25 Arms Act, 42 Prisons Act, PS Cantonment, Amritsar (City) Two Live L.G Cartridges Recovered while in Central Jai, Amritsar. (II) Case FIR No.1/2014 Dated 01.01.14 u/s 224/225 IPC, 42 Prisons Act, PS Cantonment, Amritsar (City), CONVICTED. The petitioner & a fellow prisoner had broke open the grills of the prison Cell and had tried to escape from Central Jail Amritsar on the intervening night of 31.12.13 &* 01.01.14 at 3 AM (Midnight), but another fellow prisoner had raised alarm & the accused were overpowered while escaping from Central Jail Amritsar. (III) Case FIR No.340/2014 Dated 25.11.14 u/s 420 IPC, 42 Prisons Act, PS Cantonment, Amritsar (City) Mobile Phone Recovered from the petitioner Ranjit Singh @ Rana, while in Central Jail, Amritsar. CONVICTED.” 4. It has further been stated in the aforesaid status report that the SHO, PS Gharinda has been directed to enhance the patrolling in the vicinity of village Rampura and immediately, review the security cover provided to the Jobanjit Kaur, the daughter of deceased ASI Ravinder Pal Singh. 5.

In view of the above, we do not find any ground to grant benefit of parole to the petitioner. 4. Dismissed.
