JUDGMENT Mr. H.S. Madaan, J.:- This petition for regular bail has been filed by petitioner - Wahegurupal Singh – an accused in FIR No.57 dated 30.5.2017, under Section 379-B(2) IPC, registered with Police Station Moti Nagar, District Ludhiana. 2. Briefly summed up, the prosecution story is that the criminal machinery in this case was set into motion by complainant Arshad Ali son of Sunil Mohammad Kala, resident of House No.6863, Main Road, Muslim Colony, Sherpur Kalan, Focal Point, Ludhiana, aged about 29 years and a shopkeeper by profession, who stated that on 29.5.2017, he along with his wife Rushda was returning home after purchasing vegetables from vegetable market located near Malhotra Chowk; that when they reached near Batta Sweat Shop, then two young boys with hair cut riding Activa scooter came there. They brought their Activa Scooter in front of Activa scooter of complainant and snatched a gold chain along with gold locket which his wife Rushda was wearing around her neck by showing some sharp edged weapon. The FIR was registered against unknown persons. The accused was arrested in this case. He had moved an application for regular bail but the same was declined by Additional Sessions Judge, Ludhiana vide order dated 13.7.2017, as such, he has approached this Court with same request. 3. Notice of the petition was given to respondent – State and counsel representing the State has put in appearance. 4. I have given a thoughtful consideration to the rival contentions besides going through the record and I am of the view that no ground for grant of regular bail to the petitioner is made out. 5. The allegations against the petitioner are quite grave and serious i.e. of he along with his accomplice snatching gold chain, which a woman was wearing around her neck by showing some sharp edged weapon in the morning hours that means people going on the road especially womenfolks, aged persons are exposed to such ruthless acts on the part of criminals. These things cannot be taken lightly. For such like activities of the criminals, it is not safe for women, children and old persons to move on the road. Such criminals need to be dealt with sternly. 6. Therefore, finding no merit in the petition, the same stands dismissed.
