ORDER : K.K. Sasidharan, J. The petitioner filed this writ petition to direct the respondents to repair the dilapidated building and construct a new school building for the Panchayat Union Primary School, Thumbaipatty. 2. According to the petitioner, the school in question is in a very dilapidated condition now and the same requires immediate renovation and reconstruction. 3. The learned Special Government Pleader by producing a copy of the proceedings dated 19.02.2017 issued by the Block Development Officer, Panchayat Union, Kottampatti, submitted that the matter is now pending before the District Collector, Madurai. According to the learned Special Government Pleader, approval would be given by the District Collector and immediately, thereafter, the work would be commenced. 4. The documents available on records indicate that the Panchayat Union Primary School, Thumbaipatty, Melur Taluk has got a history of its own. 5. Thiru. P. Kakkan, freedom fighter and a great leader and a member of the Constituency Assembly of India and Member of Parliament and President of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, studied in this institution. 6. It is the bounden duty of the Government to maintain such great institutions, where the freedom fighters have pursued their Elementary Education. Since, the State Government has taken follow-up action, of course, after initiating the writ petition filed by the petitioner, we are of the view that no further adjudication is necessary in this writ petition. 7. We direct the District Collector, Madurai to sanction necessary funds immediately, pursuant to the proposal made by the Block Development Officer, Kottampatti, and in any case within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The Block Development Officer, Kottampatti, shall commence the renovation and reconstruction work as indicated in the estimate dated 19.02.2017, as expeditiously as possible. 8. The writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
