JUDGMENT : Indira Banerjee, J. This writ petition is directed against the failure of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to take a decision on the application of the petitioner for enrollment. 2. The learned Counsel appearing on behalf of the Bar Council submits that the certificates and documents have been verified and decision has been delayed by reason of ensuing election. 3. It is unfortunate that an application for enrollment should be kept pending for over an year. It appears that the application was filed on 14th March, 2017. In future, the respondent/Bar Council should take decision on applications for enrollment, preferably within three months and in any case, not later than six months from the date of receipt thereof. Decision on the application of the petitioner in this case for enrollment shall positively be taken by the Bar Council at its next meeting. 4. The writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
