AMOL RATTAN SINGH

body2018
JUDGMENT : Amol Rattan Singh, J. 1. By this petition, the petitioners, who are present in the Court, sought protection of their lives and liberty at the hands of respondents No.4 to 9, who are stated to be the mother, brother and other relatives of petitioner no.1, as the petitioners are stated to be living in a 'live-in' relationship, against the wishes of the aforesaid respondents. 2. As already recorded in the order of this Court dated 16.01.2018, petitioner no.1 was widowed about 4 years ago, with the wife of petitioner no.2 stated to have deserted him about 17 years ago. 3. Learned State counsel on instructions from the police official who is present in Court to assist him, submits that the statements of the aforesaid respondents have been recorded, to the effect that they have no objection to the petitioners living with each other. 4. The said respondents are stated to have confirmed the death of petitioner no.1, while expressing ignorance about the status of the wife of petitioner no.2. 5. Consequently, this petition is disposed of with a direction to respondents no.2 and 3 to ensure that the lives and liberty of the petitioners continue to be protected within the four corners of law. However, this Court makes no comment whatsoever on the rights of the wife of petitioner no.2, or any other person if any suit is filed qua such rights against either of the petitioners in appropriate proceedings; which would be gone into by the competent court on its own merits.
