JUDGMENT : AMOL RATTAN SINGH, J. 1. Pursuant to the orders of this Court dated 23.05.2018 and 29.05.2018, an affidavit of the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Rajpura, District Patiala, has been filed in Court today by learned State counsel, stating therein that upon registration of FIR No. 124, dated 01.05.2018, at Police Station City Rajpura, at the instance of one Lali Devi, alleging that her daughter, aged 16 years, had been kidnapped by Ashu (son of the petitioners), the petitioners were joined in the investigation but they are not co-operating with the investigating agency, nor are they disclosing the mobile phone numbers of their son Ashu and relatives, or even their own mobile numbers. 2. Learned counsel for the petitioners, on the other hand, today provided one mobile number to the State counsel, which is stated to be of petitioner no. 1. 3. He contends that petitioner no. 2 does not have a mobile phone and as regards the mobile number of petitioners' son, it is not known to the petitioners. 4. The allegations being that the petitioners' son has allegedly abducted/run away with the daughter of the complainant, even though this is a petition seeking a direction that the petitioners be not harassed/humiliated unnecessarily, the investigating agency would be required to join the petitioners in investigation to at least try and determine the whereabouts of the girl kidnapped. 5. Consequently, this petition is disposed of with a direction to the petitioners to join the investigation as and when called for, but also with a direction to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala, as also the Station House Officer, Police Station Rajpura, District Patiala, i.e. respondents no. 2 and 3 respectively, to ensure that the petitioners are not unnecessarily harassed and are also not subjected (naturally) to any 3rd degree method by the police and that all provisions of the Cr.P.C are adhered to while summoning the petitioners and joining them in the investigation. 6. On any such action being taken by the police contrary to law, the petitioners would be within their rights to take their remedies, as per law.
