JUDGMENT : Aniruddha Bose, J. 1. This Public Interest Litigation has been brought in relation to maintenance of quality and standard of Patliputra Medical College, Dhanbad. In the writ petition, several requirements have been highlighted for which State’s active support is necessary. 2. Mr. Atanu Banerjee, learned Advocate appearing for the State, submits that the State would improve the quality of the said medical college and keep the same at par with the Medical Council of India’s requirement. 3. Learned Advocate for the Medical Council of India before us has not brought to our notice any specific deficiency as on date so far as the said medical college is concerned at the time of hearing of this petition. The Medical Council of India; being respondent no.5 has filed a counter-affidavit in which also there is reference to certain deficiencies in running the medical college. But that affidavit was affirmed on 10th October, 2011. 4. In such circumstances, considering the submission of the State made by Mr. Banerjee, on instruction, we do not find any reason to keep this writ petition pending. The Court cannot undertake the task of inspection and day-to-day monitoring of workings of a medical college. As State has apprised this Court that they would be improving the quality of the institution, the writ petition shall stand disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
