body2018
ORDER : V. Ramasubramanian, J. Under the apprehension that there is no second round of online counselling for admission under Categories B and C into medical courses for the current Academic Year 2018-19, the petitioner has come up with the above writ petition. 2. Heard Mr. S.Jagadish, learned counsel for the petitioner. Mr. A.Prabhakar Rao, learned Standing Counsel, takes notice for the 1st respondent/University. 3. On the basis of an information furnished in the Notification issued by the University to the effect that there will be single counselling for MBBS/BDS Courses under B and C Categories, the petitioner has come up with the above writ petition, contending that in all other States, there is more than one round of counselling. But the apprehension of the petitioner seems to be misdirected. Clause 2 of the Notification says there will be single counselling for MBBS/BDS Courses under B and C Categories. It means, there will not be separate counselling for Category B and separate counselling for Category C. 4. If in the first round of counselling itself all seats under Categories B and C are filled up, there may not be any necessity to hold a second counselling. But whenever candidates allotted under B and C Categories leave or when candidates allotted under Categories B and C move over to Category A or whenever seats fall vacant under Categories B and C, the University has been conducting second round of counselling year after year. The University has not sealed the limit of counselling only to one round of counselling. 5. Therefore, with the above clarification, the writ petition is dismissed. If the petitioner has not so far applied for admission under Categories B and C, she may go to the University along with the application form, the original certificates as well as the bankers cheque for the fee payable in respect of the particular category. Upon the petitioner submitting the application form along with the necessary documents, the University shall permit her to participate in the second round of counselling for B and C Categories. The interlocutory applications, if any, pending in this writ petition shall stand closed. No costs.
