ORDER : 1. Learned counsel for the petitioner states that Criminal appeals of the year 2001 and 2002 are being heard in the State of Madhya Pradesh and there is no chance of subsequent appeals being heard expeditiously in spite of mandate under Article 21 as recognized in several judgments of this Court including 2017 (5) SCC 702 – Hussain and Anr. vs. Union of India and 2018 (5) SCALE 248 Krishna Kant Tamrakar v. State of Madhya Pradesh. 2. Issue notice to the Union of India as well as to the State of Madhya Pradesh to consider whether any steps are being taken to ensure expeditious hearing of such appeals by creating an alternative forum as suggested in Krishna Kant Tamrakar (supra) or otherwise. Liberty to serve standing counsel, in addition. We request learned Attorney General to depute an Additional Solicitor General to assist the Court. 3. List the matter on 17th July, 2018.
