JUDGMENT : Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, J. Affidavit filed by the Director of Urban Affairs Department dated 22.04.2019 reveals that, (a) the State of Meghalaya is implementing the component of shelter for urban homeless under DAY-NULM of Government of India in 6 (six) Municipal Boards, in Shillong, Tura, Jowai, Baghmara and Resulelpara. (b) Ground floor of shelter home at Kenches Trace, Shillong is almost completed and approval for construction of the first floor has also been accorded. (c) Shelter home at Jowai is 100% completed, however, electricity supply connection is still pending. (d) In Tura home shelter is 100% completed, however, retaining wall, compound wall and approach road to be taken up after shelter home becomes functional. (e) Regarding Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Williamnagar shelter home, after deliberations, Deputy Commissioner, Williamnagar has been requested to spare some Government accommodations for shelter home, responses are awaited. (f) Shelter home have been surveyed in Resubelpara and Baghmara, the Deputy Commissioners concerned have been requested to identity Government buildings/quarters for shelter to the homeless as and when such homeless are identified. 2. Respondent authorities have taken positive steps. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that if steps are translated into action same would advance the cause of the homeless. 3. Learned Addl. Sr. GA shall file latest status, about the follow up, before the next date. 4. List again after three weeks.
