JUDGMENT : Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, J. Affidavit filed by Joint Secretary, Urban Affairs Department, Meghalaya, Shillong revealed as under:- (i) Extension of night shelter home located at the first floor of the shelter home of Shillong Municipal Board has been started and work is in progress. (ii) Supply of basic amenities like beds, curtains, mattress, chairs, tables etc. to the existing shelter home under Shillong Municipal Board are being provided and process shall be completed on 30.06.2019. (iii) Construction of shelter home at Jowai has been 100% completed, now, further steps for electrification etc. is in process to be completed within a weeks time it is stated that same will be expedited. Thereafter, all steps as shall be necessary for providing basic amenities shall also be ensured at the earliest. (iv) In Williamnagar, Deputy Commissioner has been instructed to explore the possibility of providing temporary shelter home in any of the Government buildings. As a result whereof, residential government quarter at D.C. colony has been allotted for setting up of temporary shelter home for homeless at Williamnagar having 5 (five) rooms with total carpet area of 110 sqm. Since building has been allotted to Williamnagar Municipal Board shall take all necessary steps for providing proper shelter to the homeless at Williamnagar. (v) Shillong, Jowai and Tura Municipal Boards have been instructed to submit their proposals for basic amenities. Whatever proposals as received shall be examined and sanction be accorded so that all basic amenities are made available latest by 30.06.2019. 2. Learned Addl.Sr.GA submits that he is under instructions to state before the Court that all the concerned authorities have assured that they will complete all pending projects and will ensure providing of all basic amenities for the shelter home maintained by the Municipal Boards by 30.06.2019. 3. In view of clear assurance and in view of affidavit suggesting that the respondent-authorities are serious regarding shelter homes, learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that time frame may be fixed so that the object of this Public Interest Litigation (PIL) is achieved. 4. Since in the affidavit respondents themselves have stated by 30.06.2019 all basic amenities shall be available to all shelter homes, therefore, we trust them and hope that they will not prolong the matter anymore. 5. In view of the stated position, proceedings of this PIL are closed.

However, liberty to the learned counsel for the petitioner that in case any laxity is noticed in completion of shelter homes, she shall be at liberty to lay proper motion. If laid, same shall be at the peril of the concerned defaulting authority. 6. Disposed of as above.
