JUDGMENT : TEJINDER SINGH DHINDSA, J. 1. Notice of motion. 2. On the asking of the Court, Ms. Bhavna Gupta, DAG Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 5 and waives service. 3. A complete copy of the writ paper-book has been furnished to State Counsel. 4. In view of the order that I intend to pass, there would be no requirement of seeking a written statement to the writ petition. 5. The petitioners herein claim to be owners of agricultural land measuring 10-15 acres of village Saini Majra, Tehsil Anandpur Sahib, District Rupnagar. Their grievance is that sewerage/waste water of adjoining villages i.e. Nurpur Bedi, Roora Wal and Nur Pur Khurd is flowing into and stagnating in the fields of the petitioners and thereby resulting in crop damage etc. 6. Counsel submits that on a representation having been made by petitioner No.1 to the Deputy Commissioner, Rupnagar, a three member Committee comprising of the Executive Engineer Panchayat Raj, Rupnagar, Sub Divisional Officer, Land Revenue Department and the BDPO, Nur pur Bedi was constituted vide order dated 19.06.2018 at Annexure P-2. A report dated 11.07.2018 (Annexure P-3) had been submitted by the afore-noticed Committee and in which the findings have been given that waste water of certain other villages is being dumped at one place and which is damaging the road as well as the land of the private owners. Accordingly, the Committee opined that it would be appropriate for the disposal of the waste water to acquire the land and to install a treatment plant so that the issue can be resolved permanently. 7. It is contended that thereafter, no concrete steps have been taken and the problem of water logging of the waste water in the fields of the petitioners continues unabated. 8. Learned State counsel takes a stand that the issue would be taken up with the Deputy Commissioner, Rupnagar at the earliest and thereafter necessary steps would be taken to redress the problem. 9. Statement made by learned State counsel is accepted. 10. Writ petition is, accordingly, disposed of. 11. Since the process of acquiring land and setting up of a treatment plant by its very nature would be time consuming, the Deputy Commissioner, Rupnagar is directed to examine the matter as regards initiating any short term measures in the interregnum as he may deem fit upon inspecting the spot in person. 12.
