JUDGMENT : Manjari Nehru Kaul, J. 1. Due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, the case is taken up for hearing through video conferencing. 2. Instant petition has been filed under Section 438 Cr.PC for the grant of anticipatory bail in case FIR No.61 dated 04.06.2020 registered under Section 395 IPC and Section 25 of Arms Act, 1959 (Section 411 IPC was added later on) at Police Station Sadar, Faridkot. 3. Learned counsel for the petitioner inter alia contends that the petitioner has been falsely implicated in the instant case. The FIR in question was registered against unknown persons, who were alleged to be wearing masks at the time of the occurrence in question. 4. Heard. 5. The allegations levelled against the petitioner prima facie are very serious. In the crime in question, the petitioner along with co-accused allegedly entered the premises of a bank, brandishing their weapons which included firearms and kirpans. The petitioner and the co-accused thereafter inflicted injuries on the bank officials with the lethal weapons, which they were carrying before decamping with cash amounting to Rs.3,43,050/-. 6. While leaving, they snatched the gold ornaments which the bank cashier was wearing on her person as well as a couple of mobile phones of the bank staff. The petitioner was nominated as an accused and identified on the basis of CCTV footage. 7. In view of the serious allegations against the petitioner, no ground is made out to extend the extra ordinary concession of anticipatory bail to him. 8. Accordingly, the present petition stands dismissed. However, it is made clear that anything observed hereinabove shall not be construed to be an expression of opinion on the merits of the case.
