JUDGMENT Anupinder Singh Grewal, J. - The petitioner is seeking regular bail in FIR No.132 dated 24.09.2019, under Sections 307, 379-B, 34 IPC, registered at Police Station Mehta, district Amritsar. 2. Learned counsel for the petitioner contends that the petitioner is not named in the FIR and has been arraigned as an accused on the statement of co-accused, namely, Ranpreet Singh @ Rana, who has been named in the FIR. It is alleged in the FIR that co-accused, namely, Ranpreet Singh @ Rana along with others had snatched a sum of 2,000/- from the pocket of the complainant and had hit him with an iron rod on his face. He further contends that the petitioner is in custody for about eleven months and is not involved in any similar case. 3. Learned State counsel, upon instructions from SI Gurnam Singh, contends that although charges have been framed but none of the prosecution witnesses has been examined. He also contends that the petitioner is in custody for 10 months and 22 days. 4. Heard through video conferencing. 5. In view of the submissions of the learned counsel for the petitioner, especially when the petitioner is in custody for almost eleven months; he is not involved in any similar case; the COVID-19 pandemic, and the conclusion of the trial is likely to take some time, I deem it a fit case to grant the concession of regular bail to the petitioner. 6. Therefore, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, the instant petition is allowed. The petitioner is ordered to be released on regular bail on his furnishing requisite bonds to the satisfaction of the trial Court/Duty Magistrate concerned.
