JUDGMENT : (Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to provide electricity connection to the petitioner's agricultural land in S.F.No.10/19 of Seriyalur Revenue Village, Alangudi Taluk, Pudukottai District after conducting proper enquiry by considering the petitioner's various representation and final representation, dated 31.08.2018.) 1. This Writ Petition has been filed for a Mandamus, seeking for a direction to direct the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation, dated 31.08.2018 seeking for electricity connection to the petitioner's agricultural land in S.F.No.10/19 of Seriyalur Revenue Village, Alangudi Taluk, Pudukottai District. 2. Heard Mr.P.Ganapathisubramanian, learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner and the Mrs.Rajeshwari, learned Counsel appearing for the respondents. 3. It is the case of the petitioner that his father Natesan, was in possession and enjoyment of the aforesaid mentioned agricultural land. According to him, his father had applied for electricity connection for the said agricultural land. It is further contended that the second respondent has also acknowledged the receipt of the application submitted by the petitioner's father for electricity connection on 30.12.1991. 4. According to the petitioner, his father Natesan died on 26.09.1998 leaving behind the petitioner, his younger brother and three sisters as his legal heirs. According to the petitioner, even after the death of petitioner's father, the respondents have not granted electricity connection to the aforesaid mentioned agricultural lands. According to the petitioner, he has repeatedly submitted representations to the respondents calling upon them to grant electricity connection. The final such representation was given by the petitioner on 31.08.2018. It is the contention of the petitioner that none of the representations were considered by the respondents. In such circumstances, this Writ Petition has been filed. 4. No prejudice will be caused to the respondents, if the representation of the petitioner, dated 31.08.2018 seeking for electricity connection for the agricultural land in S.F.No.10/19 of Seriyalur Revenue Village, Alangudi Taluk, Pudukottai District, is considered on merits and in accordance with law. This Court is, therefore, inclined to pass the following order: 4.1. The respondents are directed to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 31.08.2018, if any, or otherwise, treat this Writ Petition as a representation and pass final orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 5. With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. However, there is no order as to costs.
