JUDGMENT Jay Sengupta, J. - This is an application seeking an expeditious disposal of a proceeding under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act. 2. Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner is the complainant in this case. Although the proceeding was initiated by the petitioner as far back as in November, 2017, till date the proceeding has not been concluded. Apart from issuance of a warrant of arrest in the year 2018 and reissuance of the same in the year 2019, not much has happened. The proceeding is pending for a long time for no fault on the part of the petitioner. 3. I have heard the submissions of the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner and have perused the revision petition. 4. No prejudice will be caused to anyone if a direction is passed for an expeditious disposal of the impugned proceeding. 5. It is clear from the records that the impugned proceeding has remained pending and has practically stagnated for an unduly long time. 6. In view of the above and in the interest of justice, the learned trial court is requested to conclude the proceeding as expeditiously as possible without granting any unnecessary adjournment to any of the parties, preferably within a period of six months from the next date of hearing. The learned trial court shall be at liberty to use all coercive measures to secure attendance of the accused and not just limit itself to issuing warrant of arrest. 7. With these observations, the revisional application is disposed of. 8. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order may be supplied to the parties expeditiously, if applied for.
