JUDGMENT 1. This writ petition filed by the Dr. Vinod G Kulkarni shall be registered for the statistical purpose. 2. The prayer in the petition is for issuing a writ of mandamus or any other appropriate writ or order or direction to the respondents to keep open the wine shops in the State of Karnataka at least for a few hours a day. The second prayer is for providing alcohol in wine shops in limited quantities to the public during lockdown period. 3. When we expressed a view that there is no public interest involved in this petition especially when large population is deprived of even elementary facility of food and shelter, Dr. Vinod G Kulkarni who is present at the time of hearing via video conference states that he will withdraw this petition and he will pay a donation of Rs.10,000/- to the Chief Ministers Relief Fund COVID-19. 4. As Dr. Vinod G Kulkarni has stated that he will not press the writ petition and he will pay a sum of Rs.10,000/- by way of donation, we are not passing any order as to costs. 5. However, we dismiss the writ petition as withdrawn. We make it clear that no public interest is involved in this petition. We direct the Dr. Vinod G Kulkarni to pay a donation of Rs.10,000/- to the Chief Ministers Relief Fund COVID-19 within a period of two weeks from today and to forward a copy of the receipt issued for the donation to the Registrar (Judicial) by e-mail within a period of two weeks from today.
