JUDGMENT Jay Sengupta, J. - This is an application for seeking expeditious disposal of a proceeding in which charges were framed under Sections 20(b)(ii) of the NDPS Act. 2. Let a copy of the application be served upon Ms. Bhattacharya, learned counsel, who is present in Court and who ordinarily appears for the State. Her engagement be regularised in due course by the competent authority of the State. 3. Leaned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner is in custody since 16.08.2018. A charge sheet was submitted on 28.09.2018. Although charges were framed on 11.03.2020, till date trial could not be concluded. There are nine witnesses in this case. But, only one witness has been examined. The impugned proceeding has remained pending for no fault of the present petitioner. 4. I have heard the submissions of the learned counsels appearing on behalf of the petitioner and the State and have perused the revision petition. 5. No prejudice will be caused to anyone if a direction for expeditious disposal of the proceeding is passed in this case. 6. It appears that some delay has been occasioned in concluding the impugned proceeding. 7. In view of the above and in the interest of justice, I request the learned trial court to conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible without granting any unnecessary adjournment to any of the parties, preferably within a period of one year from the next date of hearing. 8. With these observations, the revisional application is disposed of. 9. Urgent photostat certified copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties, upon usual undertakings.
